Locus of Control is the extent to which people believe they have power over events in their lives. Patients with an internal locus of control realize that they play a part in their health care and take responsibility for it. Patients with an external locus of control expect their doctors to “make it all better” without the patient participating or taking any responsibility.« Back to Glossary Index
